The Standing Committee of Exchange
The Standing Committee of Exchange, SCOE was founded in 2004. SCOE has served both overseas medical students as well as local medical students from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the University of Hong Kong (HKU) through providing world-wide exchange programs that incorporate academic, clinical as well as cultural exposures. We facilitate students to participate in 2 main exchange networks: SCOPE and AMSEP.
SCOPE - Standing Committee on Professional Exchange Programme:
SCOPE, Standing Committee of Professional Exchange, is a platform which allows medical student groups belonging to the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) to organize international clinical exchanges. Clinical students can be exposed to more specialties and see how medicine is practiced in other countries. Epidemiology varies from country to country and the students will be able to learn more about local illnesses and be more aware of the international medical issues.
AMSEP - Asian Medical Students’ Exchange Program:
AMSEP, Asian Medical Students’ Exchange Program, creates opportunities for international preclinical exchanges. The program varies every year as it depends on the hosting university students to organize the schedule. Apart from learning about the medical system and education, the students will have a great chance to experience the cultural aspects of the country. We have also joined the Bangladesh Penpal Program, which allows our medical students to talk to a medical student in Bangladesh, exchanging ideas and experiences.
