Dear all,
AMSAHK has always aimed to provide wider exposure and learning experiences
for all medical students, from academic conferences and exchange programmes
across the globe; to public lectures and health projects in the local
setting. Stepping into our sixth year as the 'Year of Advancement', it
signifies a time to expand and build upon the strong foundation laid throughout
previous years.
With the establishment of new Standing Committee on Public Health (SCOPH),
our goal of raising awareness towards prevailing health issues will be
further extended to the greater public. More medical students from both
universities will be involved to encourage greater cooperation and interactive
fun between the two student bodies through serving our community together.
In the times to come, as our counterpart AMSA International revolutionizes
to surpass beyond a conference-based organization, we will echo that change
by organizing more innovative pre- and post-conference activities in Hong
Kong. At the same time, our global presence will be enhanced through participation
in the International Research Task (IRT), a collaborative project that
spans across the Asian-Pacific region. The theme of this year's IRT is
"lifestyle and non-communicable disease ". A further goal would
be the publications of these collaborated results in prestigious journals
such as the Student Lancet.
Cultural and academic exchanges from the Standing Committee of Exchange
(SCOE) will be further augmented by the Twinning Project, a pre-clinical
exchange programme from AMSA International that will add an extra zest
to our already well-established partnerships with different countries
world-wide.
As an associate member, we see great potentials in the International Federation
of Medical Students' Association, opportunities where we can share and
synergise our ideas with over 102 member countries, collaborating on projects
overseas as well as introducing their projects into our own local community.
"To serve medical students and the community, local and beyond."
With these envisions in mind, our new team of AMSAnians will continue
our enthusiasm to serve, the heart to look beyond the established and
the zest to act beyond our medical curriculums. We anticipate your support
and participation in our upcoming activities during the years to come.
