Pg 3: Inauguration Ceremony Conferences |
Inauguration Ceremony As the fifth year of AMSAHK came to an end, the Executive Committee members were eager to finally rid themselves of the responsibilities of serving medical students and community…by passing them onto us, the new members of 2007-08 (while we were still completely unaware of the daunting future that lay ahead of ourselves)! Just kidding. In truth, it was lots of mixed emotions for the fifth Executive Committee: they were sad because their term ended so quickly, yet glad that the last year was well spent with many successes, and relieved that they could count on us to continue the meaningful responsibilities of serving community and medical students, local and abroad. Meanwhile, we – the incoming Executive Committee of 2007-08 – were busy working on our first event – the Inauguration Ceremony. We are proud to tell you that this was successfully held on November 24th 2007 in the Auditorium of the Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital (HKSH).
We were most privileged to be accompanied by our many distinguished guests, including our honorary advisor—Professor S.H. Lee SBS ISO JP, Emeritus Professor of Community Medicine, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK); our general advisor—Professor N.G. Patil, Associate Dean (Education & Student Affairs) of Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong (HKU); Professor T.M. Chan, Acting Associate Dean (External Affairs & Fund Raising), HKU; Dr. Joseph Chan, Assistant Medical Superintendent, HKSH; Chair of Founding Committee (2001-02)—Dr. Nick Fung, and representatives from the Medical Societies of both universities, as well as the alumni of AMSAHK.
After listening to the insightful and inspiring speeches delivered by our honorable guests, it was time for what everyone had been waiting for: the simple yet ceremonious Handover. It was the highlight of the day, and the new Executive Committee of AMSAHK was welcomed with a big, friendly round of applause. The heartwarming afternoon was brought to a close as we exchanged name cards and warm words of congratulations. The smoothly-run and well-organized Inauguration Ceremony is what we hope to be just the start of many more successful events to come! http://www.amsahk.org |
