Highlights of the year - CONFERENCES AROUND THE WORLD
To kick off 2008, AMSAHK attended the East Asian Medical Students' Conference (EAMSC) in Thailand. Each of the 200 attendees were ready to embark on an acadmically, culturall and socially stimulating experience, and the Thai organizing committee definitely delivered above our expectations. The highlight of this conference rested with us being awarded 1st and 2nd places for our academic poster and paper, respectively.

In July, AMSAHK sent to Japan a 43-strong delegation consisting of medical students from both CUHK and HKU. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the 29th Asian Medical Students' Conference (AMSC), which consisted of an exciting series of academic, cultural and social programmes. Truly an eye-opener, this conference provided the opportunity for us to visit an operational theatre that is one-of-a-kind around the world, as well as an elderly homes which cost 3500HKD a day.

Last but not least, we participated in the 57th General Assembly hosted by the IFMSA in beautiful Ocho Rios, Jamaica, where we soaked up Carribean sunlight, new friendships, inspiration and fresh ideas for local health projects.

AMSAHK's Public Lecture series
This year, AMSAHK was proud to have invited two respected health professionals - Dr. Chan Sze-Tong (陳思堂醫生), CEO of World Vision (世界宣明會), and Dr. Lo Wing-Lok (勞永樂醫生), Ex-Legco member - to speak at our well-attended public lecture series, which yo should definitely read about if you weren't part of the audience that day!

First ever public health workshop by our Standing Committee on Public Health
A great success and the result of the collaboration between 50 medical students from both CUHK and HKU, the SCOPH extravaganza incorporated a variety of diverse elements under theme of 'Salt, Sugar and Health': exhibition boards with all the salt myths clarifications one would ever need, professional guest speakers, interactive educational games, beautiful goodies bags...read on to find out more.
