AMSA INTERNATIONAL

    CONFERENCES

Two of the largest congregations of medical students in Asia and Oceania, the East Asian Medical Students’ Conference (EAMSC) and the Asian Medical Students’ Conference (AMSC) are annual symposiums of the Asian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) International.  Conferences bring together more than 350 delegates from as many as 28 countries in exchange of medical knowledge, advocate for community health, and develop cultural understanding in global healthcare practice.

The weeklong conferences are hosted every year between December to January, and June to July by a principal city of a member chapter of the AMSA International.  Every conference comprises a series of academic, cultural and service outreach programmes that revolve around a particular theme in medicine.  These aim to foster international collaboration between medical students on scientific research, medical education, public health advocacy and international exchange; and build lifelong friendships with future doctors in the Asia-Pacific and beyond.

IFMSA

MEETINGS

March Meeting (MM) and August Meeting (AM) are the biannual international meetings held by IFMSA. Delegates from different student organizations are sent to the general assemblies, which take place every March and August respectively at different cities for an entire week. Through meeting and interacting with proactive medical students from other countries, participants are encouraged to contribute ideas to discussions, and exchange skills and experiences on how students can act on issues that motivate them. A host of regional and national meetings make these experiences available to many more.

The Meeting is divided into different sessions for a variety of Standing Committees specializing in different issues, ranging from public health to human rights to reproductive health. One of the major emphasis of the general assemblies are on capacity building within our member organizations, allowing standing committees to work more effectively and expand their reach, bringing benefits for the student leaders and the up and coming younger generation.
