Standing Committee on Exhange (SCOE)
The Standing Committee on Exchange (SCOE) was founded in 2004. Throughout the years, we have provided exchange opportunities for both local and overseas medical students. Our worldwide exchange opportunities comprise of cultural, academic and social programs as well as clinical exposure. Multiple exchanges are organized every year and are facilitated through 2 main networks: the Standing Committee on Professional Exchange (SCOPE) and the Asian Medical Students’ Exchange Program (AMSEP).
Asian Medical Students’ Exchange Program (AMSEP) is a bilateral exchange program that offers pre-clinical students the opportunity to travel to other countries to experience a different medical curriculum as well as to gain a better understanding of alternate healthcare systems. AMSEP not only encompasses academic activities such as lectures, hospital visits and simulations, but also cultural pursuits such as city tours and sight-seeing. It provides medical students with the opportunity to meet like-minded peers and to form lifelong friendships with students from all over the world, fulfilling distinctly the AMSA International vision of ‘Knowledge, Action, and Friendship’.
In recent years AMSAHK have held multiple exchanges every year with countries such as Australia, UK, Singapore and Taiwan.

Standing Committee on Professional Exchange (SCOPE) is the Professional Exchange program of the IFMSA, endorsed by the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME), the World Organization of National Colleges, Academies and Academic Associations of General Practitioners/Family Physicians (WONCA), the Federation of European Neurosciences Societies (FENS) and the European Society for Emergency Medicine (EuSEM).
SCOPE offers overseas clerkships to passionate medical students, promoting cultural understanding and co-operation amongst medical students and health professionals all over the world. SCOPE involves a four-week clerkship in a foreign country whereby students are given the opportunity to observe a different health care system and learn from foreign tutors. All students are assigned to a physician supervisor, who acts as a tutor and mentor. SCOPE aims to give all students the opportunity to learn about global health, and attains this partly by having its exchanges accredited by medical faculties across the world.
