Run by the International Federation of Medical Students Association (IFMSA), SCOPE is a four-week clinical attachment program at an overseas destination targeted towards students currently undergoing their clinical years in medical school. SCOPE was established in 1951, and represents one of the largest medical student exchange programs in the world. Each year, over 8000 medical students from around the world participate, exchanging their universities, cities and countries to gain a broader perspective on medical health care and public health.
Students will have the opportunity to experience not only the healthcare system at their chosen destination, but will also gain a greater understanding of the various specialties that may hold your interest but have yet to have an opportunity to delve into. Social programs will also be hosted by the local committee for applicants to truly appreciate the culture overseas.
This Professional Exchange program offers an affordable, personal way of undertaking a clinical exchange, and gives participants an opportunity to interact and make friends with medical students from all around the world. Above all, it allows students to broaden their understanding of global health issues and to increase their sensitivity to the differences in healthcare from across the world. By lodging your application through AMSAHK, we help manage your application and coordinate with the hosting country. The program is recognized by faculties at both HKU and CUHK, and past applicants have successfully undertaken this program in fulfilment of their Enrichment Year (HKU) and Overseas Clinical Clerkship (CUHK) requirements.
Applications will only be open to the following years:
a) HKU M20, M21, M22, M23 and M24 (a great component to your enrichment year!)
