"SERVING MEDICAL STUDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY, LOCALLY AND BEYOND"

AMSAHK’s Executive Committee is made up of youths who strive to learn outside of our lectures and books. With a dedicated Academic Department solely aimed at carrying out and advocating for more opportunities for student-led academic research, AMSAHK prides itself on empowering medical students to independently seek out knowledge outside of the four walls of the classroom.
KNOWLEDGE
ACTION
Medicine is a holistic field — it is integral that medical students understand how societal inequalities can impact a person’s health. With five Standing Committees each focusing on a specific social topic which has influences on the quality of medical care, AMSAHK’s Executive Committee is filled with passionate medical students who dedicate themselves to making a better tomorrow.
FRIENDSHIP
As part of two major international student organisations — the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) and AMSA-International — AMSAHK serves as the bridge between Hong Kong and the global medical student community. Through the numerous international opportunities we oversee, ranging from exchange opportunities to representation at the WHA, AMSAHK has helped to foster innumerable friendships that span the circumference of the globe.

ABOUT

US

The Asian Medical Students' Association Hong Kong (AMSAHK) is the first students’ organization jointly run by medical students from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong. Inspired to promote local and international medical awareness, a group of medical students from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong decided to take action in 2001. AMSAHK was officially founded on 20th February, 2003 and registered as a student-led organization.

AMSAHK is the first local liaison to international medical students’ associations. We are one of the founding members of the Asian Medical Students' Association (AMSA) International, as well as an associate member of the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA). Being the largest joint-university medical students' association, AMSAHK not only unifies local medical students from both universities, but also connects local medical students with those in other parts of the world through conferences and exchanges.

We serve as a bridge between medical students and healthcare professionals, by actively contributing towards public health promotion and policy making. Through increasing international exposure of medical students, AMSAHK advocates the importance of scientific research, global exchange, public health and medical education. We strive to equip them with the expertise and dedication to serve the wider community in their future careers.

We hope to see AMSAHK serve medical students of Hong Kong not only during their university life, but as a bridge between the academic and professional worlds, actively contributing towards public health promotion and policy making. Building upon its roots as a platform for international exposure, AMSAHK unites students from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong, equipping them with the expertise and dedication to serve the local and international communities in their future careers through academic reserach, global exchange and public health advocacy.
